Invitation to a streamed lecture in rheumatology on structural progression in axial spondylarthritis
Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a collective term that includes the disease entities ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and non-radiographic axial spondylarthritis (no-axSpA).
According to the modified New York criteria, typical radiographic changes in the SI joints should be seen in AS whilst nr-axSpA lacks these radiographic changes and is instead diagnosed by MRI and / or by clinical parameters in combination with HLA-B27 positivity. There is also a transition over time between nr-axSpA and AS, in so far that nr-axSpA may develop the typical radiographic changes for AS and become an AS. However, this radiographic progress varies considerably between patients and some factors have been identified that are associated with an increased risk of radiographic progress. Novartis invites to a streamed lecture on structural progression in axial spondyloarthritis with Dr Sofia Exarchou from Lund University, who has long been involved in research in axial spondyloarthritis.
